Please bring a covered two tier black dummy cake ( assembled) Size 5 "x 6" deep and 6" x 6" deep.
Learning to paint onto cake can be so scary, right?...."what if I go wrong" …."I'm not artistic"...."Good luck teaching me to paint".... If this sounds like you, don't worry! We have had students with no painting experience produce lovely paintwork and new confidence to then practice and develop their own painting style further at home. All cake decorators are artistic! You just need a little confidence and guidance to get you on your way to painting beautiful cakes.
In this class Louise will introduce you to the edible medium cocoa butter and squires kitchen food dusts. The design will be taught in stages with no one being left behind.
You will learn the technique of painting striking and bold colours onto a dark coloured fondant. Louise will demonstrate and give guidance on how to paint her roses in slightly different shapes and sizes. You will also learn briefly about colour mixing... be warned, louise may mention the colour wheel at least once in class!
You will also learn about placement, what angle looks best and where something may need to be added. When louise designs a cake a lot of the design develops as she paints. The more you practice, the easier you will find it to be able to see what looks right, and where something maybe missing. It is important to remember that everybody will paint differently, each student will be given the same steps to produce the same design but each will be unique and different. Each cake that louise paints is always different from the last, that's what makes it so much fun.. it's art!
Please remember to bring your covered cake dummies, assembled please. You may find it easier transporting it on a covered cake drum/board. If so we would recommend a black covered drum. A light Lunch is provided.
Cake classes cannot be refunded, please make sure you are able to make the date. In the unlikely event that Louise needs to cancel the class, then all monies will be refunded.
