Elegant Vintage Floral Hand Painted Wedding Cake Class at Sunflower bakery-28th April 2019
Elegant vintage floral wedding cake class at Sunflower bakery, the George Inn, church street, Wedmore, Somerset BS28 4AB
27th April 2019
10 am until 5.30 pm approx. Finish time may alter slightly.
Please bring white fondant Covered dummies to this class. Dummy sizes used for this wedding cake are
5" x 6" deep, 7"x 8" deep and 9"x 4" deep.
You do not have to bring all three tiers if you don't want to, ( although I do recommend as you will have a nice wedding cake design at the end of the class) you could just bring one extra deep tier for the middle tier design and then cupcakes or a covered drum to paint the top and bottom details. As long as you have something to paint the design onto!
Learning to paint onto cake can be so scary, right?...."what if I go wrong" …."I'm not artistic"...."Good luck teaching me to paint".... If this sounds like you, don't worry! We have had students with no painting experience produce lovely paintwork and new confidence to then practice and develop their own painting style further at home. All cake decorators are artistic! You just need a little confidence and guidance to get you on your way to painting beautiful cakes.
In this class Louise will introduce you to the edible medium cocoa butter and squires kitchen food dusts. The design will be taught in stages with no one being left behind.
You will learn the technique of painting beautiful vintage looking florals with an aged look to them. You will also learn briefly about colour mixing and putting different colours together, what works and what doesn't.
You will also learn about placement, what angle looks best and where something may need to be added. When louise designs a cake a lot of the design develops as she paints. The more you practice, the easier you will find it to be able to see what looks right, and where something maybe missing. It is important to remember that everybody will paint differently, each student will be given the same steps to produce the same design but each will be unique and different. Each cake that louise paints is always different from the last, that's what makes it so much fun.. it's art!
Once the painting is finishes we will create a vintage looking frame for the middle tier and give the design an overall aged look.
A light Lunch will be provided.
Please remember to bring your covered cake dummies, and/or cake drums if painting on them instead assembled please. You will find it easier transporting it on a covered cake drum/board. I recommend covering your dummies at least a week or two in advance. The middle tier is very deep so the wrap around method will suit this better. Please don't leave it until last minute if you are not experienced in covering tall cakes, we wouldn't want anyone stressed the night before! Also, don't stress about sharp edges if its not something you usually do, the design will work on bevelled edges too. xx
Cake classes cannot be refunded, please make sure you are able to make the date. In the unlikely event that Louise needs to cancel the class, then all monies will be refunded.
