If you are trying to find out how to paint a cake and what paint to use on a cake, I can help!

In this post I will tell you how I paint my cakes, and what I use so you can get started on your edible masterpiece!

How To Paint A Cake

What paint to use on Cakes

I have been painting on cakes for over 7 years and in that time I have tried a few methods of cake painting. Here are the two methods that I use the most to paint on to fondant covered cakes:

Painting with Food colouring/Gel Pastes

The first time I painted onto fondant icing I used Sugar flair Gel pastes mixed with alcohol.
This works really well and its very easy to create a paint, just mix the two on a palette or plate and you have a paint mix! This method is great if you want
to  paint a very simple design.

Painting with Cocoa Butter and Food Dusts

My favourite cake painting  method is to mix edible food dusts with melted cocoa butter. This  creates a lovely edible paint.
This can be used on fondant/sugarpaste or   chocolate covering.

I love using this method because you can make the painting really stand out and look like a real painting. It also dries quickly too, which is a great help if you don't have much time.
